Introduction

Sam has over 13 years of senior management experience, advising and capacitating organisations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

He is a well-travelled facilitator who has delivered programs for teams in government, business and the social sector.

Sam is a Strategic Business Director at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), focused on client satisfaction and loyalty in Europe. He oversees the delivery of high-quality services for strategic clients.

In his spare time, Sam is President of the Board of Directors for Serve the City Belgium, a growing non-profit that mobilizes volunteers to serve their cities in practical ways.

Education

Sam’s education has taken him to France, the UK, the USA, Egypt, Sudan and Kenya.

He has a BA in Social Anthropology from Harvard University and an MSc in Refugee & Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford. His dissertations at both institutions were awarded highest honours.

Experience

Sam has lived in 9 countries on 4 continents. His career has focused on advising organisations with respect to humanitarian and leadership development initiatives.

In 2011, after chapters with the Women’s Refugee Commission and a London law firm, Sam moved to Ethiopia to manage a social enterprise. His team would help governments, diplomatic missions and NGOs to learn from, and listen to, their intended beneficiaries. Sam’s work would focus on displaced populations – especially on Ethiopia’s borders with Sudan, Somalia and Eritrea.

In 2014 Sam was hired by CCL as Deputy Country Director in Ethiopia and was soon promoted to Regional Director for East Africa.

In 2017 he was promoted to the role of Societal Impact Director, EMEA. With a new and growing team in Brussels, Geneva and Addis Ababa, he served global organizations pursuing positive societal transformation.

In 2021, Sam shifted his focus to launching a Next Gen Leaders initiative for CCL in the Middle East, equipping young leaders with the awareness, character and perspective that that our changing world demands.
