Michael Shiel

Michael Shiel is Programme Director of INSEAD’s Executive Master in Change based at Fontainebleau, France. This advanced degree programme, which is directed at mid-career executives, senior coaches and consultants, explores the deep challenges of facilitating change in organisations and is conceptually based in the field of systems psychodynamics.
Dr Shiel is also Adjunct Professor of Strategy at INSEAD, where he has lead executive programmes in strategic renewal in industries as diverse as financial services, the auto industry and FMCG, throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
His many years of accompanying organisations through demanding programmes of change have brought him to a range of deep insights and understanding of how human beings face the demands of guiding their institutions to survive and thrive in the most challenging of circumstances.
His doctoral studies were conducted under the renowned strategist and complexity theorist Prof Ralph Stacey at the University of Hertfordshire. He gained his MBA degree at Fordham University (New York). He also holds qualifications in systems psychodynamics from the Tavistock Institute, and in Group Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Institute of Group Analysis.
