JB Kurish joined Goizueta Business School (US) in the autumn of 2006 and is currently Professor in the Practice of Finance and the Senior Associate Dean for Executive Education. He served as Associate Dean of the Full-time MBA Program from 2008 to 2010. Previously, JB served as a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Hartford.

Earlier in his career JB left academia as an economics professor and moved to the other side of the classroom as an MBA student. After receiving his MBA from Yale University, he joined Credit Suisse First Boston as an investment banker. He later served as Director of the Government Finance Research Center (GFRC) of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). More recently, JB has also served as the interim president of a small medical equipment company where he oversaw the implementation of a quality control system and the company’s attainment of ISO 13485 certification.

As an economist and former Wall Street investment banker, JB is an expert on a range of issues related to the financial markets. He is recognised as a leading authority in state and local government financing, having served as an expert witness for legal proceedings related to the municipal market, and has been quoted in publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, and Bloomberg Markets.

JB’s primary teaching focus has been applied finance courses such as investment banking and valuation. In addition, he is the faculty director of the Goizueta Advanced Leadership Academy – the capstone leadership programme for a select group of the school's graduating MBAs. Further, JB is the chair of the board of directors for The Washington Campus, an educational entity that provides specialised, immersive, week-long seminars to educate MBA students on the decision-making processes of the US government, preparing them to intelligently influence and engage with government initiatives.
