Nine to Thrive: How Healthy Work Drives Healthy Workforces, Organizations, and Communities

23-May-2024 9:50 - 10:20

With 60% of the global population employed, organizations have a major impact on the health and well-being of society. A recent study by the McKinsey Health Institute (MHI) of 30,000 employees across 30 countries found that employees who had positive work experiences reported better holistic health (including physical, mental, social, and spiritual functioning). Subsequently, employees with higher holistic health reported higher job satisfaction, happiness at work, work engagement, innovative work behaviors, improved job performance, and better work life balance. It’s clear that healthy work is associated with healthy workforces.   There is also enormous global economic potential to be gained by investing in healthy work and workforces – a multi-trillion dollar opportunity. Healthy workforces enable better organizational performance, healthy employees thrive, and thriving employees can be better family and community members. So what can employers do to create a workplace that supports healthy and thriving employees? This keynote will explore the latest research on these topics, outline evidence-based frameworks for action, and share free resources employers can use to get started on the journey toward healthy workforces, organizations, and communities.
